Ferntail seated in his camp

Ferntail is an Argonian rogue living in a small camp outside of Bruma. He is a former Shadowscale Agent whose connections caught up with him, and he was forced to go into hiding before he was hunted down and executed. Someone is looking for him right now, in fact - another Argonian named Han-Zaw, in Bravil. He is also a candidate for Rangers Guild recruitment.

Ferntail has a simple routine: he rises from his bedroll at 6am every morning and moves to his stool, where he sits all day. At midnight, he retires to his tent to sleep.

He wears a chainmail cuirass, and fur greaves, boots, and gauntlets, and is armed with a steel dagger. He carries a piece of boar meat and five apples.

The first time you talk to him, he'll express disgust at the locale: "Why anyone lives here is beyond my comprehension." If asked why he doesn't live in town, he says: "I stay out of the town, actually. The Shadowscale assassins would find me, if I had a residence. It is wretched up here, though - I have frost under every scale. I wonder what my old friend Marsh is doing now." If you ask about Marsh, he says: "My friend Marsh. He dives for pearls out on a tiny island, north-east of Bravil. Some of those pearls he finds are like nothing else. If I could have a Luminescent Pearl, then being stuck up here would feel less wretched. If you happen to come across one, then bring it to me, and I'll give you something in return."
