Visiting Advisor at the White Hall in Dawnstar

The Visiting Advisor is a vampire masquerading as an advisor to jarls across Skyrim.

As part of Gunmar's radiant Dawnguard quests, you will need to eliminate him. During A Jarl's Justice, you will have the option of either stealthily killing him to avoid a bounty or pickpocketing his orders and bringing these to the jarl, who will then give you a free hand to deal with him.

He wears a vampire hood, robes, gloves, and boots, and carries an enchanted ring and an enchanted dagger. As a vampire, when dead he will drop a portion of Vampire Dust and possibly a leveled potion.

Bugs[edit]

  • The Visiting Advisor is one of three potential targets for the Hide and Seek quest, in place of the Traveling Merchant. As a result, there is no dialogue to convince him to follow you.
    • PC Only The Unofficial Dawnguard Patch, version 2.0.2, addresses this issue. The Traveling Merchant replaces the Visiting Advisor as one of the potential targets

Notes[edit]

  • While the advisor is described as a vampire, visually looks like one and uses Vampiric Drain, they are actually part of the normal "Nord" race, and not the "NordVampire" race. This means that spells such as Sun Fire and Stendarr's Aura have no effect on them, and the advisor is detected by Detect Life, rather than Detect Dead.
