Torkild transforming into a werebear

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Speak to Wulf Wild-Blood.
  2. Randomly locate Wulf's brother Torkild.
  3. Defeat Torkild when he is a werebear.
  4. Examine Torkild's body.
  5. Return to Wulf.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Talk to Wulf Wild-Blood in Skaal Village. He will ask you to find his brother, Torkild. Torkild will appear randomly while wandering Solstheim. While speaking with him, he will turn into a werebear and you will be forced to kill him. Afterward, search his body and take the letter to Wulf from him.

Return to Wulf Wild-Blood in Skaal Village and give him the letter. He will thank you, and give you a one point skill boost to several combat skills: Archery, Block, Heavy Armor, and One-handed.

Notes[edit]

  • If you cannot find Torkild, there are eight places where he can appear. The one near Glacial Cave is probably the best choice, since the spawn point is close to the cave and you can fast travel there every so often and re-check.
More Likely Less Likely
  • One possible circuit to check all eight places:
Fast travel to Glacial Cave, and walk west to check the waterfall.
Fast travel to Bristleback Cave. Walk north and uphill to check the plateau.
Walk back south to the shoreline, and continue south along the shore to check the area near the chest with Haknir's treasure.
Walk south along the shore, past the big waterfall with all the netch, to check the shore west of Damphall Mine.
Sometimes the NPCs here will spawn right at the waterline and then walk west into the ocean.
Fast travel to Nchardak, and then walk north to check the point north of Nchardak.
Fast travel to Haknir's Shoal. Swim west to the mainland shore, then walk north along the shore to check that area.
Walk back south along the shore, until just north of the waterfall. Walk southwest, uphill, until you reach the path to Benkongerike, then turn and walk northwest to check that area.
Fast travel to Raven Rock and head for Raven Rock Mine. At the smelter, turn and walk east, uphill, and check that area.
  • While the quest At the Summit of Apocrypha is active, you cannot give the letter to Wulf.
  • If you enter werewolf form to fight Torkild and choose to feed on him, you may temporarily be unable to search him. If you wait or fast travel elsewhere, you should be able to obtain the letter.

Bugs[edit]

  • It is possible Torkild will already be dead upon finding him (e.g. something else killed him before you were able to talk to him). This should not cause any problems with the quest, as you can still take the letter off his body. When talking with Wulf afterward the dialogue will still be about him turning into a werebear and you having to kill him.
  • The letter to Wulf may be removed from your inventory prematurely. This will not affect the quest.

10 I met Wulf Wild-Blood, whose brother disappeared many years ago. Wulf believes he may have become a werebear, and warned me to keep an eye out for him.

Notes
  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage DLC2WB01 stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest DLC2WB01.
