Organization[edit]

ZOS is just going to keep adding Crown Crate rewards, and I've already exceeded the 20 section limit on 2D TOCs in the first table. I've had to add a second table of contents to this page to keep up. I'm already planning on making pages for Lipstick and contacts/eye alterations because those are the only head markings that can be seen over all skins (regardless of whether or not they display worn body markings underneath), but I'd like to start throwing some ideas around for how we're going to ensure that all of these Crown Crate markings are easy for readers to sort through.

I know some editors don't like the arbitrary categories costumes were sorted into, but readers seem to appreciate being able to find obviously Altmer-themed ball gowns, or Dunmer regalia and whatnot. Our first priority as a wiki is documentation, preferably using the categories laid down by the game itself: but having been on the other end as a reader, there's a part of me that wonders how we're going to make all this information easily accessible when readers need it.

I am not the image of the average reader: not everybody can memorize the names of 300 different cosmetic markings and the general gist of their descriptions for a swift ctrl + F to find what they're looking for, whether they're an artist looking to draw a character with specific markings, a roleplayer looking for something to help put a little bit of extra characterization into a Breton noblewoman turned pirate, or a player that wants to browse through ESO's vast selection and mark something down on a wishlist of sorts. It's a long scroll down to the bottom of many of our Collections pages.

The sheer scope of ESO's cosmetics catalogue is so broad now that I'm having a hard time remembering the names of some of the markings I'm trying to document, and I'm the freak that memorized over 75% of the pickings through osmosis!

We don't need to come up with a solution right this second: I just think it would be handy to put some ideas into the pot for the future. -MolagBallet (talk) 18:10, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
