Web of Lies[edit]

When you enter the Wishbone, Divayth Fyr will be trying to convince Skrix to help him regarding with the matter of the Ebony Blade:

Skrix: "Got nothing to say to you, Fyr."
Divayth Fyr: "Settle yourself, Skrix, and listen. I can make business very difficult for you if you don't."

Speaking to Skrix to get further information on the Ebony Blade:

"You with the Ash-Elf, Fyr? Got no business with you. Got no business with him. Better scuttle off. Stomp you, otherwise. And peel you off the boot flat."
'We're not here to make trouble. We need your help finding where this counterfeit blade came from."
"Ebony Blade, eh? That's the Mistress's heart-cutter. Somebody's hammering out fakes? Clever.
Got no idea where it comes from. Don't care. Tell Fyr he can find it himself."
Divayth is threatening to make life very difficult for you. Help us and we'll leave you alone.
"Threats, eh? With Fyr it's always threats. Skriddy Elf with big head and tiny wits.
Fine. Will cast a signal line for it. Finding ritual. Can find anything with it. After this, Fyr pays and you scuttle off. Final offer."
What else can you tell me about the ritual?
"Nothing. Secrets of the Skein. You find out the secret, you die. Quiet. Alone in the dark.
Still want to know how it works?"
Yes, I do.
"Then you're stupid.
Enough talk. Put the sword on the table."
I guess not.
"Smart.
Enough talk. Put the sword on the table."

Speaking to him before you put the sword on the table:

"Put the sword on the table. Get this over with."
What more can you tell me about the ritual? (Repeat the options)

Once you placed the sword on the table, Skrix will do the ritual and expose a seeking spider. He will be pressured by Divayth to accompany you:

Divayth Fyr: "A seeking spider, eh? I do hope it works. For your sake. In fact, why don't you accompany my partner here. As a gesture of good will."
Skrix: "Lady's fangs! Did what you wanted. Cast the spell! Zzavfa. Let's go."

Speaking to Skrix before Divayth:

"Not leaving yet. Talk to Fyr.
Elf's always talking. Going to die talking one day."
You're coming with me. What else can you tell me?
"Signal line will show you the way to the source. Of your fake Ebony Blade. Just follow the spider. Simple. Even for you mortals.
You feel like giving up, just say so. Got better things to do."

After speaking to Divayth:

"Waiting on someone?
Signal line won't stay fresh forever. Happy to stay here. Get better things to do than chase fake swords with you, Nirnborn."

Once outside of the tavern, you can speak to him again:

"More talking? Just get on with it? Sooner you find what you're looking for, sooner Fyr's out of my webs."

While you're trailing the spider:

Skrix: "Just follow the spiderling. Simple."
Skrix: "Keep going. Nearly there."
Skrix: "Torches in Skein Row? Liable to set webs on fire. Clumsy. Stupid!"

Once you reach the end of the trail, he will go through the Counterfeiter's Lair door:

Skrix: "This is the place. Answers behind that door. In you go."

He will comment on the presence of another fake blade:

Skrix: "Artificer's table. See? Another Ebony Blade's right there. Have a look."

Talking to him before you examine the blade:

"What? Found what you wanted. Ebony Blade's right there. Go on. Look."

Once you examine the blade, Strix will web up Divayth in an attempt to betray him. Divayth will instruct you to use the sundial to teleport out:

Skrix: "Flies in the web! Hope you like the lair, Fyr. You're never leaving."
Divayth Fyr: "Potent magics, Strix. But all too predictable. Quickly, assistant—use the sundial."
Skrix: "Light? What are you—?"

You'll be teleported out with him, you can use this chance to speak to him:

What just happened?
"What are you talking about?"
We've been here before.
"Not likely.
Imagining things. Should get your head checked. Oblivion's no place for mortals. Scrapes your little brains raw."

Approaching the same torch area:

Skrix: "Torches in Skein Row? Liable to set webs on fire. Clumsy. Stupid!"

And once you reach the lair again:

Skrix: "This is the place. Answers behind that door. In you go."

The same lines are looped because you have travelled back in time:

Skrix: "Artificer's table. See? Another Ebony Blade's right there. Have a look."

Speaking to Skrix again before examining the blade once more:

"What? Found what you wanted. Ebony Blade's right there. Go on. Look."
We've done this before.
"Done what before?"
We've been in this room before. All of this has already happened.
"You sure? Look sick. Like you ate something rotten. Fargrave's not good for your kind. Makes you see things. Go mad.
Better lay down. Quiet the voices."
You're going to betray us.
"Maybe so. Or maybe not. Maybe I already did.
Like this game. Can see right through all that armor. Confused. Scared. Just how you ought to be. Can't do it all day, though. Check the sword. Can talk more after."

The same scene will replay, but this time you're more prepared:

Skrix: "Flies in the web! Hope you like the lair, Fyr. You're never leaving."
Divayth Fyr: "Webs! Use that torch—quickly!"

Burning his webs, he will be cursing at you:

Skrix: "Stop! Stop it!"
Skrix: "No! Not fire!"
Skrix: "Lady curse you!"

After burning out the web that trapped Divayth, Divayth will imprison Skrix and teleport him out of the lair.

Once outside, you can speak to him before Divayth:

"Got nothing to say, Nirnling. Nothing you're worthy to hear."

After the quest, he will remain defiant:

"Think you're clever. Clever like Fyr. But when you're dead, Skrix will still be here. Secrets never die. Schemes never end.
Enjoy the victory. Mortals only get a few."
What do you think Fyr plans to do with you?
"Doesn't matter. Probably talk, like he always does. Ask questions. I'll lie. He'll cast his banishing magic. Won't last. Will come back before long. Start all over again.
Only ends when Fyr dies. And he will. Nirnlings always do."
