Nightwood are dark-colored logs with glowing blue streaks. They can be found in any zone by players with Woodworking Rank 9 or 90 to 140. Each raw "node" can be harvested for three to four samples of the raw material, Rough Nightwood. Once ten samples of rough wood are collected, they can be refined into seven to ten pieces of the refined material, Sanded Nightwood. Refined nightwood pieces are used for creating nightwood staves and bows, as well as nightwood shields, at any woodworking station. In order for you to craft nightwood gear, your Woodworking ability has to be rank 9.
