Mannimarco, also known as the King of Worms, is a master necromancer who is conspiring with Molag Bal to drag Nirn into the Daedric realm of Coldharbour.
As the leader of the Worm Cult, he has deceived the Empire and made a dark pact with the Tharn Family, raising the corpses of dead soldiers to fight for the Imperials.
He is seen in the opening cutscene for the main quest tutorial, where he sacrifices you to Molag Bal, trapping your soul in his realm.

Skills and Abilities[edit]
Castle of the Worm[edit]
- Soul Cage
- Mannimarco summons three to five lich crystals from the ground around the dais, as indicated by white cracks on the ground. Standing near the crystals as indicated by the red circles will do moderate magical damage over time to the player. This attack is always followed by Soul Rupture. Stay at range when this spell is cast to avoid the lich crystals. Standing in the circles could cause you to become chilled.
- Soul Rupture
- After a short time, the crystals explode, dealing moderate magical damage to all targets within the red circle. Getting hit by the exploding crystals will cause the player to be lifted above ground briefly; the player can break free from this.
Shadow of Sancre Tor[edit]
- Death Bolt
- A simple ranged attack that deals low magic damage.
- Doom
- Mannimarco flings a bolt of energy through the air towards you in an arc. When it lands, it explodes, dealing moderate shock damage.
- Death's Gaze
- Mannimarco channels a beam of energy at you which deals low magic damage over time for ten seconds. This ability snares you, reducing your movement speed. It also afflicts you with Minor Maim, reducing your damage done by 5%.
- Teleport
- Mannimarco teleports visibly in a straight line across the arena. This ability can be interrupted.
- Summon Haunted Spirits
- When he reaches 80% health, he opens a portal which Haunted Spirits pour out of. Abnur Tharn rushes over to close this first portal, only allowing five ghosts through. At 50%, He opens another portal, which four ghosts come through and Sai closes. At 20%, he opens a third portal, which three ghosts come out of and Lyris attends to.
Quest-Related Events[edit]
The Harborage[edit]
In flashback visions, Mannimarco can be seen standing next to Emperor Varen as he sits at a table. Later on, he will appear in a vision showing what led up to the Soulburst:
- Varen Aquilarios: "There it is. The Dragonfire brazier. Mannimarco, you're certain this will work?"
- Mannimarco: "It will work, my liege. The Amulet of Kings will rekindle the Dragonfires, and ensure your rightful place as Emperor. You have my word."
- Lyris Titanborn: "It better work, Mannimarco, or you'll find your neck at the business end of my axe."
- Abnur Tharn: "My Lord, I wonder if you'd muzzle your half-giant pet? She really is annoying."
- Sai Sahan: "Enough, both of you! We are here to ensure My Lord's rightful claim to the Ruby Throne."
- Varen Aquilarios: "Abnur, begin the ritual. I have a destiny to fulfill." [The Dragonfire lights up]
- Varen Aquilarios: "By the lighting of the Dragonfires, I claim my rightful lineage! By the fires of creation, let me be reborn! By the will of Akatosh, I proclaim myself ... Dragonborn!"
- Mannimarco: "Varen Aquilarios, you are no heir to Alessia! You will pay for your sacrilege! The veil between Tamriel and Oblivion tears and splits asunder!"
- Abnur Tharn: "What's happening? The sky is opening up! This is bad! This is very bad!"
- Varen Aquilarios: "This isn't supposed to happen! What's the meaning of this? Mannimarco, what have you done?"
- Mannimarco: "Gullible fools! The veil between Oblivion and this world has been torn! My master, Molag Bal, is free to claim Tamriel for his own!"
- Varen Aquilarios: "Akatosh! Forgive me! Have mercy on our souls!"
Mannimarco levitates above the brazier and immobilizes Varen and soon the other three companions, using the power of the ritual to tear open a veil between two worlds, causing the Soulburst. The vision then fades out.
Castle of the Worm[edit]
After you save Abnur Tharn, Mannimarco will appear and banish Tharn.
- Mannimarco: "Now, now, Tharn. No telling my secrets."
- Mannimarco: "Go to your room, Abnur. I will deal with you shortly."
- Mannimarco: "Ah, dear Lyris. Your old position at the Foundry is still available. We'll even give you your own set of unbreakable chains."
- Mannimarco: "And you. The thorn in my side. The pebble in my shoe. How strong are you? Shall we test your limits?"
He summons swarms of skeletons to attack you. After a while, he grows frustrated.
- Mannimarco: "How infuriating! The process drains the energy from most victims, yet you keep fighting!"
- Mannimarco: "Your strength surprises me. But how much more can you take, I wonder?"
Tharn will return after you survive several waves of enemies, then he and Mannimarco will duel.
- Abnur Tharn: "Mannimarco! You dare attack the chancellor of the Elder Council?"
- Abnur Tharn: "His power wanes, Vestige! Strike him down, while his attentions are on me!"
- Mannimarco: "How dare you betray me, Tharn? Your suffering will be legendary!"
Mannimarco disappears.
The Tharn Speaks[edit]
Inside the dungeon Abnur Tharn sends you to, you'll find a speaking stone next to a copy of The Unbreakable Redguard. Activate the box and you'll hear:
- Sai Sahan: "You will not break me, King of Worms!"
- Mannimarco: "I can, and I shall! Where is the Amulet of Kings?"
- Sai Sahan: "You cannot break the will of a son of Yokuda! I spit on you!"
Further on you'll find another stone next to The Chim-el Adabal:
- Mannimarco: "Chim-el Adabal. The Amulet of the Kings of Glory. An artifact of the Divines, a badge of office for the ruling emperors of Cyrodiil, and the key to my ascendancy. Yet it eludes me."
- Mannimarco: "Exploiting its power to bring about the calamity of our age was intoxicating. It made me aware of the limitless possibilities available to one strong enough, and fearless enough, to use it to achieve his own ends."
- Mannimarco: "The Amulet has the power to create or destroy. But it also has the power to undo the damage caused by the Soulburst, to mend the tear in the barrier between Nirn and Oblivion.
I must recover it before some fool fixes that which must remain broken."
At the final stone beside The Duchess of Anguish you'll hear:
- Mannimarco: "The Redguard's iron will cannot be overcome with standard interrogation techniques. Physical tortures appear to be useless."
- Mannimarco: "I have therefore instructed the Daedra to move Sai Sahan into the Halls of Torment. The Duchess will be most pleased to have a new … guest."
- Mannimarco: "His flesh is strong, but perhaps her tortures of the mind will break him. I have come too far to allow this upstart swordmaster to thwart my plans. I will find the amulet, one way or another."
Halls of Torment[edit]
As you enter the Halls, you'll hear Mannimarco from a distance interrogating Sai Sahan:
- Mannimarco: "Where is the Amulet of Kings?"
After you enter the section where the Lyris Doppelganger is interrogating Sai Sahan, Mannimarco will repeat the same thing:
- Mannimarco: "Where is the Amulet of Kings?"
After you enter the Chamber of Agony, Mannimarco once again repeats the same line:
- Mannimarco: "Where is the Amulet of Kings?"
Valley of Blades[edit]
While dealing with the cultists, you'll hear:
- Mannimarco: "In the name of Molag Bal, come forth and destroy his enemies!"
- Mannimarco: "Heed me, Daedric minions, and obey!"
- Mannimarco: "Hosts of Oblivion, come forth and feast!"
After you have destroyed the sigils in the ruined Abbey grounds, Mannimarco will send a larger force your way.
- Kasura: "Sai, the Titan returns!"
- Mannimarco: "Ah, Sai Sahan and company, at last! My pet has been waiting for you."
While you fight the Titan, Mannimarco will taunt Sai.
- Mannimarco: "How many more of your friends must die, Sai Sahan? Where is the Amulet of Kings?"
A projection of Mannimarco appears in the ancient crypts after you take the Ring of Stendarr's Mercy.
- Mannimarco: "I knew you would lead me to the ring, eventually. Give it to me!"
- Sai Sahan: "Your presence defiles this place, Mannimarco!"
- Mannimarco: "Give me the ring and I might spare your pathetic lives!"
- Lyris Titanborn: "We struck down your Titan and we'll strike you down soon enough!"
- Mannimarco: "The Titan was a prelude of what's to come if you continue to defy me!"
- Abnur Tharn: "Defy you? Your delusions of godhood are laughable, you ignominious corpse-herder!"
- Mannimarco: "Very well, then. I'll simply take the ring from your corpses."
- <The dead start to rise.>
- Sai Sahan: "Blasphemy! How dare you raise the honored dead to fight your battle!"
Shadow of Sancre Tor[edit]
After you arrive in Sancre Tor, you will find a massive projection of Mannimarco waiting for you.
- Mannimarco: "What brings you to Sancre Tor, old friends? Looking for an amulet, perhaps?"
- Sai Sahan: "Mannimarco? How did you find this place?"
- Mannimarco: "Do you really think I'd allow you to escape the Halls of Torment if I couldn't track your every movement?"
- <Sai Sahan is lifted into the air by magic.>
- Lyris Titanborn: "Sai, no! Mannimarco, stop! You're killing him!"
- Mannimarco: "Where is the Amulet of Kings? My master, Molag Bal, demands it!"
- Abnur Tharn: "Your master. Please! You would use the amulet to betray Molag Bal!"
- Mannimarco: "Fool! When I ascended, you could have been at my right hand, Tharn. Instead you chose to align yourself with mongrels and imbeciles. Now you'll die with them!"
- Abnur Tharn: "You won't get away with this. Do you really think you can betray a Daedric Prince?"
- Mannimarco: "With the Amulet of Kings, all things are possible! Nations will tremble and bow before me! I will be a god!"
- Sai Sahan: "The Amulet of Kings will never be yours! It is protected by a ward of the Divines!"
- Mannimarco: "You mean your ward of Stendarr, God of Merciful Forbearance, patron of gutless, law-abiding dimwits? It won't even slow me down!"
If you enter the Crypt of Heroes, you'll hear:
- Mannimarco: "Wandering into a crypt when a necromancer is about? Your curiosity will be your undoing. Rise up, fallen heroes! Kill the intruders!"
There's one point of interest in the Crypt of Heroes: the Crypt in the center of the courtyard. You'll need to open the door, descend the staircase, and loot the chest. When you climb up the stairs and cross the crypt's threshold, Mannimarco will address you before raising the Lord of Iron and Woe, a thundermaul.
- Mannimarco: "Impressive. But allow me to raise an enemy that will offer a bit more of a challenge!"
When you reach the next chamber, his projection will appear again he will explain his ambitions to replace Molag Bal.
- Mannimarco: "Persistent, aren't you? Do you really think you can keep me from acquiring the amulet?"
- Sai Sahan: "The Amulet of Kings is under the protection of Stendarr's ward! It will never be yours!"
- Mannimarco: "Ah, Sai. You still don't understand, do you? My plan will succeed because of your ward of Stendarr! It will prevent Molag Bal from observing or interfering. By the time the ward is down and the amulet is mine, it will already be too late!"
- Lyris Titanborn: "You're insane if you think you can betray the God of Schemes!"
- Mannimarco: "Naive child! You know nothing! Chim-el Adabal, the red diamond at the center of the Amulet of Kings, is the most powerful Soul Gem ever created!"
- Mannimarco: "With the amulet in my possession, I will absorb Molag Bal's power, reducing him to an empty husk of ethereal flesh. Then I will trap his essence within the gem!"
- Mannimarco: "In time, the name Molag Bal will be forgotten! In time, all of Tamriel will bow down before me! Soon, the God of Schemes will have a new name: Mannimarco!"
The projection disappears and a bunch of undead minions attack you.
When you arrive in the Dragonguard Tomb, Mannimarco will gleefully call out to Sai.
- Sai Sahan: "The shrine is on the far side of the room. Quickly, we must find our way across!"
- Mannimarco: "I've a surprise for you, Sai. Do you remember your fallen comrades from the Dragonguard? I've taken the liberty of raising them, and they're quite anxious to see you."
- Sai Sahan: "Again, the King of Worms defiles the memory of the honored dead! I have no wish to disfigure the corpses of my old comrades of the Dragonguard, but we must consecrate the shrine."
Once you consecrate the shrine in the Reman Vault, Mannimarco will be aggravated.
- Mannimarco: "You are really starting to annoy me. Kill them!"
When you arrive at the Vault Antechamber, his projection will continue to gloat.
- Mannimarco: "Your pathetic efforts will not succeed! The Amulet of Kings will be mine!"
- Sai Sahan: "I swear by Stendarr's grace and the sword of my father, you will not win, Mannimarco!"
- Mannimarco: "Soon, you will know the extent of my power and bow before me!"
- Mannimarco: "Through the power of the Amulet of Kings, I will be transformed!"
- <Ghostly figures of the various national leaders will appear in a circle surrounding you.>
- Mannimarco: "All the nations of Tamriel will bow before me! They will worship me and beg for my mercy! All will know the name of Mannimarco as their one, true god!"
- Lyris Titanborn: "You'll never get away with it, Mannimarco! We'll fight you to our last breath!"
- Mannimarco: "By all means, my old friends. Try and stop me!"

When you enter the Vault of Kings, Mannimarco will be waiting for you. When he summons his first group of ghosts, he says:
- Mannimarco: "Miserable fools! You are nothing! I am Mannimarco!"
- Abnur Tharn: "Keep Mannimarco occupied! I'll close the portal!"
When he opens the second ghost portal, he says:
- Mannimarco: "Minions, arise! Obey me!"
- Sai Sahan: "I will hold them at the portal! Focus on Mannimarco!"
As he nears defeat:
- Mannimarco: "I grow tired of these games!"
- Lyris Titanborn: "He's weakening! Don't stop now!"
Once Mannimarco is killed, his spirit will rise from his body.
- Mannimarco: "Do you really think that death can stop the most powerful necromancer Tamriel has ever known?"
- Mannimarco: "This is merely a transition! My first step towards true immortality!"
- Mannimarco: "Now witness my true power! Watch as I rise up from the grave and ascend to godhood!"
Mannimarco will begin to cast a spell, only to be interrupted.
- Molag Bal: "Worm! You think you can betray the Lord of Brutality and Domination without consequence?"
A huge arm reaches out of the dark anchor portal and grabs Mannimarco.
- Molag Bal: "You will pay for your arrogance! You will writhe in agony for the rest of eternity! Your tortured screams will echo throughout Oblivion to serve as a warning to others!"

When you talk with Varen, he will ask you if you want to see the current fate of Mannimarco after his betrayal and failure.
- Varen Aquilarios: "Behold the fate of the King of Worms."
- Mannimarco: "Please! No more! It was a misunderstanding, great one! Let me serve you. Let me prove my loyalty. No more, I beg of you!"
- Varen Aquilarios: "Mannimarco's torment will be endless. The God of Schemes will use him to set an example. All who follow him will know, you cannot hope to betray the greatest of betrayers."
- Varen Aquilarios: "I cannot help but pity him, despite all he has done."
- Varen Aquilarios: "But, that is not why you were called here, Vestige. Come. Sai Sahan would speak with you first."
God of Schemes[edit]
In the hall of Heart's Grief you can find Mannimarco being tortured. Once you deal with the torturers, you'll have the opportunity to talk to him.
- "You! Come to gloat at my torment? Or is your appearance here a part of it?"
- Mannimarco? You're still alive?
- "I am neither alive nor dead. I am trapped in a gout of ash and bile and swirling vapors. My ears are filled with the screams of a thousand nails being drawn. And the pain! The pain is endless."
- Why is Molag Bal keeping you here?
- "I am his plaything. And an abject lesson to others who would thwart him. My plan was flawless. My machinations were executed to perfection. I would have been a god, if not for you.
My only consolation is that you will know this pain, soon enough." - I'm here to defeat him and take my soul back.
- "Arrogant, presumptuous, egotistical twaddle! That bit of costume jewelry is nothing compared to the Master's power.
I expect I'll be seeing you soon. My only joy for the rest of eternity will be hearing your tortured screams!"- I could release you if you wish.
- "After all that's transpired? I killed you, you simpleton. I saw your life gutter and fade like a candle flame in a tempest. My undead servants drank your blood and I reanimated your corpse.
Do not taunt me with such hilarity."
- "After all that's transpired? I killed you, you simpleton. I saw your life gutter and fade like a candle flame in a tempest. My undead servants drank your blood and I reanimated your corpse.
- So be it. (Conversation ends.)
- I could release you if you wish.
If you speak to him again, he says:
- "Leave me to my suffering! It is only compounded by you standing around gawking like a child."
If you choose to release him, he will mock you and your companions will see this as a mistake.
- Mannimarco: "You actually released me? Naive fool! Future generations will pay for your weakness!"
- Abnur Tharn: "Are you insane? That worm didn't deserve your mercy!"
- Lyris Titanborn: "Why do I get the feeling we're going to regret this?"

Enter Traitor's Vault and activate the first pedestal. You'll see a memory of a much younger Vanus and Mannimarco:
- Vanus Galerion: "Just look at this place. How in Syrabane's name did you get the Ritemaster to unlock it for you?"
- Mannimarco: "He rightly acknowledged our superior skill. It's only natural that he'd let us work here."
- Vanus Galerion: "Well, it's quite a privilege."
- Mannimarco: "Privilege? It's our right, Vanus. You mustn't be so humble all the time."
- Vanus Galerion: "Oh, not this again …. Come, let's explore further!"
The memory of Vanus walks further into the Vault and disappears.
- Mannimarco: "Secluded, cavernous—yes. This will be perfect for my research."
- Ulliceta gra-Kogg: "That was Mannimarco! And Vanus Galerion—leader of the Mages Guild. Can you believe this? It must be Mannimarco's laboratory!"
Explore the Vault, and activate the second pedestal:
- Vanus Galerion: "What have you done? This is just … repugnant."
- Mannimarco: "Oh, Vanus, I would have thought you less judgmental. It's just a bit of puppetry. Nothing but arcane lift and spirit-handling."
- Vanus Galerion: "That was a living thing, Mannimarco. You're edging close to a dangerous line. Too close."
- Mannimarco: "You sound like the Ritemaster. The only lines are those you draw in your mind."
- Vanus Galerion: "I'm not going to …. Please, just find a new avenue of research. All right?"
The memory of Vanus begins to walk away, and disappears.
- Mannimarco: "Oh, Vanus, you fool. You will never understand true power."
- Ulliceta gra-Kogg: "I always heard Vanus and Mannimarco were friends, but it seems like a complex relationship. Fascinating! Let's see what else we can find!"
Find and activate the third pedestal.
- Vanus Galerion: "This is what happened to our classmates? What is wrong with you?"
- Mannimarco: "Wrong? Honestly, grow up, Vanus. There is no right and wrong—only power and weakness."
- Vanus Galerion: "You've made me for a fool. I can't believe I didn't see the rot infesting your soul."
- Vanus Galerion: "You will answer for this eventually. I swear it."
The projection of Vanus disappears and the risen dead of Mannimarco's former classmates fall down dead on the floor.
- Mannimarco: "And you, my friend, will answer for your short-sightedness when I eclipse you in every way."
- Ulliceta gra-Kogg: "I always thought Mannimarco was confused. Misguided. Seems he knew exactly what he was doing. Amazing."
Now find the last pedestal and activate it. It appears that Mannimarco has Vanus in a choke-hold. He's lifted Galerion off the ground and seems annoyed.
- Mannimarco: "You tattled, didn't you? You're a greater fool than I thought."
- Vanus Galerion: "You tainted the Ceporah Tower! You're worse than a murderer."
- Mannimarco: "Pathetic. Do you expect Iachesis to bind me here? No, he'll simply banish me from the island."
- Vanus Galerion: "That won't be enough. You're a beast, Mannimarco. A beast that needs to be caged."
Mannimarco drops Vanus.
- Mannimarco: "Of course you're right. And once I reach the mainland I'll show the world how right you are."
- Mannimarco: "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a ritual to complete."
Mannimarco proceeds to hit Vanus with a blast of magic, flinging him backwards, and the projection of Vanus disappears.
- Mannimarco: "Now, to my masterwork. If Iachesis does not see the genius of my work, he can rot with the rest of them."
The memory of Mannimarco walks into the nearby door and disappears.
Dialogue[edit]
Five Companions Keep[edit]
When you activate the Companion Table, you will see a vision of Abnur Tharn lecturing his companions, especially Mannimarco losing his patience with him:
- Abnur Tharn: "It's a simple process. A child of five could do it. Unfortunately, we don't have a child of five, so I'll be forced to walk you through it."
- Mannimarco: "You really are starting to annoy me."
- Abnur Tharn: "Now, now, before you lose your temper, let me clarify. I don't know precisely where he is, but I can find out. I'll just need a little time."
- Mannimarco: "Your pathetic efforts will not succeed!"
- Abnur Tharn: "Oh, please. We're adults, aren't we? The day start considering people's feelings speaking my mind is the day my efficacy as a politician comes to an end. When that day comes, just kill me outright, I beg you."
- Mannimarco: "Go to your room, Abnur."
Deprecated/Cut Content[edit]
During Shadow of Sancre Tor, one of Mannimarco's lines used to be slightly different.
- Sai Sahan: "The Amulet of Kings is under the protection of Stendarr's ward! It will never be yours!"
- Mannimarco: "The Aedra? They are absent parents for this forsaken world. Do you think they really care about you?"
- Lyris Titanborn: "You're insane if you think you can betray the God of Schemes!"
