Log Rollers are Nords found just outside the main gate of the city of Ebonheart. Hraelgar Stonecrush will challenge you to fight one of them, which they heartily encourage.
Skills and Abilities[edit]
- Quick Strike
- A basic melee attack that does minor physical damage.
- Heavy Attack
- A heavy melee attack that does moderate physical damage. It can be blocked to set the enemy off balance.
- Throw Dagger
- The enemy backs away from the player and throws a dagger at the player. This attack Causes snare and bleed if it connects. This attack can be interrupted to set the enemy off balance. The dagger can be blocked to prevent the snare and bleed and reduce the damage done.
- Ignite
- A combo move that is only performed if Archers, Fire Mages or other fire using enemies (Flame Atronachs, Scamps etc.) are around. The enemy throws a glob of tar under the player's feet as indicated by a red circle. While this does no damage, standing in it will snare the player. The Soldier will call for the other enemy to light the tar (usually accompanied by a voice clip) and the red circle will burn, doing moderate flame damage over time to enemies within the red circle.
Related Quests[edit]
- A Bit of Sport: Impress Nord sawyers by fighting them drunk.
Quest-Related Events[edit]
Speaking to any of them outside of the quest and you'll get the following remarks that are gender specific.
Before the quest: If your character is a Dark Elf:
- "I hear Dark Elves are milk drinkers. Too bad. I bet a good mead would loosen your back ends enough for you to pull the sticks out of them."
Male Log Rollers:
- "I tried the drink at the inn, but I think I'll stick with our own mead.
I can't take this local stuff. It's made out of mold or something."
Female Log Rollers:
- "Some of the boys like to flirt with the Elf girls. I don't know why. They're so little. There's nothing to them!"
During the quest, you can ask for a fight:
- Care to brawl? You look as stringy as a wet Khajiit, and you smell twice as bad.
- "Har har! You're clever, you are. Let's see how well you take a blow."
During the brawl, they'll call out any of the following lines:
- Log Roller: "Come at me!"
- Log Roller: "Try to put up a decent fight?"
- Log Roller: "Don't be timid!"
- Log Roller: "I'll chop your head clean off!"
- Log Roller: "This won't take long."
- Log Roller: "This should be fun."
If you speak to them during the quest while sober, you can only say:
- I need more mead. I'll be right back.
- "That's the spirit. Bring one for me."
When you win:
- Log Roller: "All right, you got me. Say, you're not bad!"
- Log Roller: "Ha ha ha! Stop! I need more mead."
- Log Roller: "Whoa, sabre cat! Let's go back to drinking."
- Log Roller: "Ha ha ha! Ow! I quit."
- Log Roller: "Well, you're tougher than you look."
Speaking to them after the brawl:
- "Woof! Ha ha ha! Good fight!
You'll have to find someone else to brawl with. I just need a moment to catch my breath. And stop the bleeding. And get another mead. You know how it is."
If they are the last to be defeated:
- "Ah, you're a good drinking mate, friend. Come back and join us again sometime."
