Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Investigate Hozzin's Folly[edit]

The portal to Oblivion

Just outside Hozzin's Folly you will meet up with Sergeant Seyne who has been observing the bandit activity at the mine. She is concerned that something suspicious is going on and wants you to go undercover and find out what the bandits are looking for.

"That cursed ship is the least of our worries. Bandits are plundering the mine, looking for artifacts."
Why are they here?
"They're alert, looking for something. Had to kill the one behind me before he warned the others."
How can I help?
"How are you at subterfuge? I'll stay here and keep an eye on these bandits.
You take the uniform from our friend here. Get down among the shacks and see what's going on."
I'll do it.

To disguise yourself, pick up a Frostedge Bandit Disguise from the nearby bandit corpse. Equipping it will help you avoid combat against both the Frostedge Bulwarks and Frostedge Brigands. However, you must avoid being seen by the Frostedge Sentries, as they will see through your disguise and cause nearby bandits to attack you. Alternatively you can just fight your way through and not use the disguise.

Hozzin's Folly is a small village with only four houses. You must find three important items, the Dark Ministrations book, the Contract Scroll and the Cracked Rune Ward runestone. There will be Sentries patrolling near these houses, so be careful unless you want to get involved in a fight. Dark Ministrations is found sitting in the southern ruined house, and contains information about a portal to Oblivion which was opened here. The Contract Scroll is found inside a larger ruined house to the west. According to the scroll, the Frostedge Bandits have cut a deal with the Daggerfall Covenant. The Cracked Rune Ward is found in the northern house - as the name says, it is cracked and upon inspecting you realize that there were once protective wards around the mine.

<Tiny cracks cover the surface of this rune ward. It may have once thrummed with magical energy, but it's now dark.>
<Upon further inspection, you see a small note attached to its base.>
<Read the note.>
"Rogutter: Keep this runestone out of the mine! If you bring it near the Unspeakable Sigil, the portal closes. Then we're cut off from the relics. That means we don't get paid!
If you don't understand, I'll start breaking fingers until you do."
<Take the runestone.>

Get Inside the Mine[edit]

After finding these items, you must proceed to the mine northwest of the village. Be sure to grab the skyshard just outside of the mine while avoiding doing harm to the bandits. In order to get inside, you must knock on the mine door and talk to the bandit within. The exchange can go as follows.

If you're not wearing a Frostedge Bandit disguise:

"Get lost."
It's cold out here. Let me in.
"What? Who in Oblivion are you?
Get out of here before I gut you like a trout."
I'll be back.

If you're wearing a Frostedge Bandit disguise, you have another option to fool him:

[Lie]The boss wants to check on the relics we already found.
"Quick, come inside! We've almost made it past the scamps. I heard them say the portal is just beyond."
Thanks.

Find a Way into the Tomb[edit]

When you get inside, the bandit realizes that you're not who he thought you were:

Frostedge Lookout: "Who are you? Please, don't hurt me. Guards! Intruder!"

He will try to run away to the right and be incinerated by the fire trap in the corridor.

The path within the mine is pretty much linear. After passing the bandits, you will go through a tomb of several corridors filled with fire traps. Time your movement carefully as you proceed to the center room. In the center, you will find a Portal to Oblivion, being guarded by a scamp. Kill the scamp and proceed through the portal.

Destroy the Unspeakable Sigil[edit]

Within Oblivion, you will find yourself in a hallway, which leads to a Daedric temple filled with scamps. Within the temple is a Sigil, which you must destroy. Once the Sigil has been destroyed, you will find yourself back in the mine. Head outside where Sergeant Seyne is awaiting your return. Confirming her suspicions, she says that this might be a distraction created by the Covenant and that it's best that you head back to the village and inform the others.

"So, what did you find out?"
The bandits were contracted by the Daggerfall Covenant to steal a Daedric Artifact.
"A Covenant contract? I smell a distraction. That ship we spotted might be the start of an invasion.
We've got to get back to the village!"

Quest Stages[edit]

Hozzin's Folly
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
Seyne wants me to explore the mine and discover what the raiders are doing here. To get inside, she wants me to take a uniform from the raider scout she killed. The raiders' sentries can see through my disguise.
Objective: Get a Disguise from a Corpse
With the help of the disguise, I've entered the area outside the mine. I have to find out what the raiders are up to down here.
Objective: Investigate Hozzin's Folly: 0/3
Objective Hint: Equip the Frostedge Disguise
Hidden Objective: Inspect the Contract Scroll
Objective Hint: The Covenant Hired the Brigands
Hidden Objective: Inspect the Dark Ministrations
Objective Hint: Cultists Opened a Portal to Oblivion Here
Hidden Objective: Inspect the Cracked Rune Ward
Objective Hint: Wards Once Protected the Mine
I've found evidence proving that the Daggerfall Covenant hired the bandits. The Covenant wants access to an Oblivion portal and the power it holds. I need to get into the mine and put a stop to this.
Objective: Get Inside the Mine
The book the cultists left behind described a ritual space inside the old tomb. I should find a way inside.
Objective: Find a Way into the Tomb
The contract scroll I read outside the mine mentioned fire traps in a tomb. I'll keep my eyes open.
Objective: Bypass the Fire Traps
I found a portal to a realm of Oblivion. To close it, I need to pass through it.
Objective: Use the Portal to Enter Oblivion
The cultists left behind an artifact called the Unspeakable Sigil. It's maintaining this pocket of Oblivion. I can't risk the bandits or their Covenant masters getting access to the power here. I must destroy the artifact.
Objective: Destroy the Unspeakable Sigil
I need to get out of here and report to Seyne. I must get out of the tomb.
Objective: Leave the Tomb
I need to speak to Seyne.
Objective: Leave the Mine
Finishes quest☑ The Daggerfall Covenant is backing the bandits at Hozzin's Folly. That's bad for Bleakrock. I should speak with Seyne.
Objective: Talk to Sergeant Seyne
