Jhared Strongblade in Cheydinhal

Jhared Strongblade is a Breton knight and one of the few surviving Knights of the Thorn, mainly because he did not accompany Farwil Indarys and the others on their ill-planned assault on the Oblivion Gate outside Cheydinhal.

Before you've completed Dagon Shrine, Jhared will live a simple existence at the Knights of the Thorn Headquarters. After waking up at 8am he will spend the rest of the day pacing around the lodge, only taking a two-hour break for lunch at noon. Once the Cheydinhal Oblivion Gate appears he is removed from the game and will only re-appear once you have completed the Main Quest, at which point he resumes his usual schedule.

Jhared wears a near complete set of steel armor: boots, greaves, cuirass, and gauntlets. He also wears his Knights of the Thorn medallion. In combat he relies on a steel longsword and a steel shield. He carries a small amount of gold. He also has access to the Knight's leveled spell list.

Related Quests[edit]

Dialogue[edit]

Due to a bug, speaking to Jhared before the events of The Wayward Knight will have him oddly greet you as if you were a member of the Order:

"As the newest member of the Knights of the Thorn, I bid you welcome!"

He will also use this greeting once he reappears after the end of the Main Quest, regardless of your actions during The Wayward Knight. At this point you can also ask him about the Order and the battle:

Knights of the Thorn
"There may be only three of us left, but we still can match blades with the best of them."
Oblivion Gate
"I'm just glad we escaped with our lives. Oh, don't tell Farwil I said that..."

Unused Dialogue[edit]

  • Jhared has a series of greeting lines that are never heard due to others taking precedence:
"I bid you welcome."
"What are you doing in here. This is the headquarters for the Knights of the Thorn. No one else is allowed inside. If you stay here, and Lord Farwil finds out when he gets back from his latest quest, he will have me thrown out of here. Please, leave at once."
  • Jhared also has some more dialogue lines which you will never as the topics would only be available during The Wayward Knight, when he is disabled:
Knights of the Thorn
"We are led by Farwil Indarys. Yes, the Count's son himself. Our job is to protect Cheydinhal from any aggressor. We are sworn to this duty and would die before letting any harm befall her. There are seven of us here, including myself. If you're here to join up, I'm afraid you'll have to speak with Farwil."
May I speak to him?
"I'm afraid he and the rest of the Knights are off on a mission... a secret mission. Perhaps if you return later, he'll be here."

Bugs[edit]

  • Jhared will always greet you as if you are a Knight of the Thorn because there are no conditions attached to any of his greeting lines and the first one is thus always chosen.
  • After the Main Quest has ended, in his dialogue lines Jhared will refer to Farwil and to there being three surviving Knights of the Thorn, regardless of whether Farwil and Bremman Senyan survived ?
