Grandfather Frost

Grandfather Frost is a Breton alchemist, and an earlier idea for the NPC who would go on to become Uncle Sweetshare. It's possible that he was changed for being just a bit too much like Santa Claus.

He wears a white Colovian fur helm and a common robe. He carries a wooden staff, five samples of moon sugar, a copy of the Alchemy skill book The Song of Grandfather Frost, and a grandmaster's mortar and pestle. Aside from his natural resistance to shock, immunity to frost, ability to shield himself, and a natural frost damage spell, he knows the following spells: Dire Weary, Strong Fire Shield, Strong Frost Shield, Second Barrier, Strong Shock Shield, Strong Reflect, Strong Spelldrinker, Wild Spelldrinker, Absorb Speed [Ranged], and Absorb Strength [Ranged].

Notes[edit]

  • Grandfather Frost is the Slavic name for the equivalent of Santa Claus.
  • Besides his different song, Grandfather Frost was also meant to have a different assistant. Whereas Uncle Sweetshare has M'nashi, Grandfather Frost was meant to have Cingor, who was similarly meant to be found dead.
  • His face is identical to Socucius Ergalla's unique face.
  • It's possible that Grandfather Frost (and/or Uncle Sweetshare) was meant to wear a red Colovian fur helm, rather than a white one, as one exists in the Construction Set, but it goes completely unused. It's also not red, as it doesn't have a unique texture, instead reusing the base game's helm texture, which is yellow.
  • During the quest The Moon Sugar Mystery, Jeleen states that the culprit was "A strange man...old and frail -- certainly no Nord", while this description doesn't line up with how Uncle Sweetshare appears in the final game. It is possible that this bit of dialogue was meant to refer to Grandfather Frost and wasn't changed while Uncle Sweetshare was.
