Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

This quest starts during New Greyland, Same Old Trouble; now that you've dealt with Veren Lonavo and his gang, there's an empty building. Nature abhors a vacuum, so you need to find someone to occupy the space. Your first step is to inspect the building. As expected, it's a nasty, smelly wreck - most people aren't going to want it. Go talk to the merchants; Bugak gro-Bol will suggest you talk to Kantav Cheynoslin. He, in fact, is looking for somewhere to place a poorhouse, but someone of his lofty position isn't going to dirty his hands with the work; he'll send you to see Long Tail.

Long Tail is happy to have somewhere to work, but he needs an assistant - he sends you out to his home village in Blackmarsh to hunt down Sin-Rei. She's understandably unhappy that you want to take the village's healer, but he's missing anyway - you'll have to talk to the other residents to find out where he went. Someone mentions that he was seen leaving with Tim-Jah, who will tell you that Itan has a small shrine in a cave to the south, past Onyx Caverns. Go there, talk to Itan, and he'll be willing to come to the city.

Return to Long Tail with the good news; he'll give you your next task: procuring a source of potions. Alves Uvenim, at the Mages Guild, will flat out refuse (though not in such polite terms), so it's off to Carmina, who's happy to help.

Once that's all out of the way, return to the steward to report on the progress; she'll send you on to the count, and this quest will be complete.

Journal Entries[edit]

Reshaping the Skooma Den (BANLeyawiinReshapingSkoomaDen)
Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
5 Lerexus Callidus sent me to On-Staya Sundew, steward to Count Marius Caro.
10 After the defeat of the Lonavo gang and clearing Greyland, an empty skooma den remains in the city, I was asked to decide what to do with it. I should either find someone who will buy the building, or use it myself. For starters, it's worth exploring the empty den.
15 Hmmm. It's just a dirty and smelly hole. I don't know who would dare to invest money in this trash heap. I'll have to talk to the merchants. At least they have money.
20 Bugak gro-Bol suggested I speak with the Primate. It seems that he was looking for a building for some reason.
30 The Primate of the Great Chapel of Zenithar is looking for premises for a small alms-house. This is a pious deed, but the Primate himself, of course, will not deal with the arrangement. I need to find the Argonian Long Tail in the Great Chapel.
40 Long Tail will happily take care of the future shelter, but he needs an assistant. Long Tail has sent me to the swamps of Niben, to Sleepy Creek village, where Long Tail was hatched. In Sleepy Creek, I need to speak to Guardian Sin-Rei.
45 Guardian Sin-Rei is furious that Long Tail wants to take Itan the healer from the village. But Itan is missing and I need to find him. First, I'll talk to the residents of Sleepy Creek.
50 Itan was last seen leaving the village with Tim-Jah. I need to ask Tim-Jah where Itan is.
55 Tim-Jah said that Itan was staying in a cave south of the village, beyond Onyx Caverns. I must find this cave.
60 Itan agreed to come with me to Leyawiin. I should lead him to the shelter.
65 Itan has arrived safely in Leyawiin, Long Tail is very pleased. He has already made repairs at the shelter, now it's clean and tidy. Long Tail has asked me to speak with the Mages Guild to arrange a supply of cheap medicinal potions for the shelter.
70 The alchemist of the Mages Guild expressed no desire to help "this stinking poorhouse run by stupid lizards." I will speak with Dagail instead.
75 Dagail was very upset about her colleague's behaviour [sic]. She will undoubtedly point out to her the unacceptability of such arrogance. But, alas, she cannot help with potions. I should speak with Carmina the Herbalist.
80 Carmina is willing to send her weak and less successful elixirs to the poorhouse. And from time to time to pay for work from the guests of the shelter. Well, that is something, at least. I must tell Long Tail about these successes.
85 Long Tail thanked me for my help and asked that I report to the steward to advise that the shelter was ready to receive the first guests.
90 On-Staya Sundew was delighted that things have gone so well. Count Marius Caro is now waiting for me.
100 Finishes quest☑ Instead of a skooma den, Leyawiin now has a new shelter for the poor and homeless.

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage BANLeyawiinReshapingSkoomaDen stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
